About Polishing Professionals

Marble restoration & marble polishing of an entry foyer.

Our Services

Polishing Professionals specializes in marble and natural stone restoration for residential and commercial properties.

Our work focuses on restoring worn, etched, and damaged stone surfaces through proven processes tailored to the condition of each surface. We believe in clear communication and transparent recommendations so you know exactly what to expect before work begins.

Our Expertise

With over 25 years of hands-on experience in marble and natural stone restoration, we bring a clear understanding of what is possible — and what is not — for each surface.

Stone restoration is not one-size-fits-all. Proper results depend on the condition of the material, prior treatments, and realistic expectations. Our role is to evaluate those factors and provide straightforward guidance so you can make informed decisions aligned with your goals.

Our Process

Every stone surface is different, and effective restoration depends on proper evaluation.

While restoration processes may be similar, results vary based on the condition of the stone, prior treatments, and your expectations. Our process begins with an on-site inspection so we can understand these factors and provide clear, realistic recommendations.

This approach allows us to be transparent about what can — and cannot — be achieved and to propose solutions that align with your goals before work begins.

About natural stone restoration

Polishing and maintaining marble floors after marble restoration and marble polishing.

HOW IT WORKS

  • No two stone surfaces are the same, but the foundational principles of restoration remain consistent. True restoration involves refining the stone surface through a controlled abrasive process — much like polishing a gemstone or sanding wood smooth — to achieve the desired finish.

  • Finish level matters. Honed or satin surfaces are refined to a lower grit for a softer appearance, while polished finishes are refined further to achieve higher sheen and clarity.

  • Each project begins with preparation and protection. Surrounding surfaces are carefully protected to ensure the work is contained and your property is respected throughout the process.

  • Grout and surface cleaning are always addressed. Surface soiling can typically be removed, while deep, penetrated staining may have limitations — something we are always transparent about.

  • Sealers are applied as part of the process, using fully penetrating products designed to protect without altering the natural appearance of the stone. Sealers are not bullet-proof, but they do help extend the life and maintainability of restored surfaces.

  • Transparency is central to our approach. An on-site inspection allows us to evaluate the condition of the stone, identify potential limitations, and clearly explain what can — and cannot — be achieved before work begins.

If you’re unsure what your stone needs, that’s normal. A quick conversation can make things clear.

Lets talk about sealers

Taking care of marble on a daily basis to preserve after marble restoration.

Why It Matters

We believe in keeping natural stone surfaces looking natural. Much of the confusion around stone care comes from misunderstanding the word sealer, so it helps to think of sealers in two broad categories: penetrating sealers and topical coatings.

Penetrating sealers absorb into the stone and grout to help slow moisture absorption and reduce staining. They are invisible, do not change the appearance of the surface, and can provide added time to clean up spills. While helpful for maintenance, penetrating sealers do not prevent etching, scratching, or wear — they are a protective aid, not a guarantee.

Topical sealers, on the other hand, sit on top of the surface as a coating. These products alter the appearance of the stone and require ongoing maintenance. While common on materials like VCT flooring, topical coatings are rarely appropriate for natural stone and often create more long-term issues than benefits.

Understanding the difference is important. Proper evaluation, realistic expectations, and appropriate care matter far more than any single product. When in doubt, professional guidance helps ensure your stone is protected without compromising its natural appearance.
